Awesome daddy day with Isaac
Before school / work:
- went by a fire house, saw the fire engines
- played & sang along with Rainbow Connection & Movin Right Along from the Muppet Movie soundtrack
At the end of the school day:
- Isaac did a school bus puzzle all by himself!
After school:
- went to South Boston, saw a tugboat
- went to the end of Black Falcon Terminal, saw:
- lots of pretty sailboats
- lots of fast motorboats
- lots of loud planes flying just overhead on the way to land at Logan Airport (really, directly overhead)
- some really big planes like a 747 that was taking off from Logan
- lots of friendly people fishing
- a great big fish "jumping" after getting caught (err, I'll explain that one to him later)
- got to look through a telescope to see the boats & airplanes
- daddy got to hold a little lobster that the fishers caught, and Isaac got to pet the tail before we threw it back in the ocean
While wandering back from Black Falcom terminal, Isaac...
- got to see a huge sailboat going by the airport
- got to see a giant, "broken" tent at Harborlights
- got to see a giant ship in dry dock
- got to see giant fishing boats & their equipment near the New England Fish Exchange building
- got to take pictures of the car (yes, Isaac took this, and several more near identical ones...)
- got to gawk at a giant lobster statue by a seafood shack
- got to find out that Wayne Newton is playing here soon (golly!)
Then we drove home through the Big Dig high tunnel, with the sunroof open and the windows down, again playing & singing Rainbow Connection & Movin Right Along. We ate sandwiches from the waterfront, then spent some quality time on the potty -- almost there! he farted in the toilet! -- before taking a bath, reading some stories, and going peacefully to bed.
It's great being a daddy :-)
Then daddy got to watch Barack Obama accept the presidential nomination.
That was fun too, but let's be honest: I was pretty tired by then, and I was kind of drifting off to sleep.
